Bowser Village Plan – Public Hearing

What’s happening in Bowser? It’s growing!  The Bowser Village Centre Plan goes to Public Hearing on Tuesday, March 16, 2010.  Start time is 7 pm, at Lighthouse Community Hall.

All local residents are invited to comment on the Plan which is set to become the first Village Centre Plan in the Regional District of Nanaimo.

The Plan is intended to serve as the principle guiding document for all land-use decisions in the Bowser Village Centre. It includes policies on a wide range of issues such as sustainable economic activity, nature-sensitive planning, safe, healthy transportation, and increasing community pride and ownership. The Plan Area covers 92.5 hectares along the Old Island Highway (Highway 19A), including Magnolia Court, where many people in Bowser already live and work. Approximately 50.7 hectares of the Village Centre Area was originally identified in the 2003 Electoral Area ‘H’ Official Community Plan; the Village Plan also includes a 41.8 hectare section along Crosley Road, designated as a Future Use Area.

More information on the Bowser Village Centre Plan, including the final draft, the proposed Amendment Bylaw, and the 2003 Area ‘H’ OCP, is available at www.rdn.bc.ca.
