The Doggy Doo Wagon is a pet waste removal service that has been serving the Nanaimo area since 2000 and is operated by Arlene and Julie. I had the privilege of speaking with Arlene to find out more about their company.
Mid Island News: What kinds of services do you offer?
Arlene: We offer a full range of pet waste removal services, we can either pick up your dog or cat waste from the curb or we can go around your yard and pick it up. We also do kitty litter.
MIN: Do you have a monthly fee?
Arlene: We offer a monthly service. If customers prepay 12 weeks, then they get 5% off.
MIN: How did you get interested in setting up this business?
Arlene: I first heard about pet waste removal service from my son-in-law who used a similar service and was really pleased with it. I would say all of our customers are educated about how pet waste should be properly disposed. Some folks might be from other cities and are not aware that you can’t dispose of doo in your garbage, but then they will get a note from the City advising them that it is not allowed. Then they call us!
