Tim Horton’s hosts free public skates on Saturday, Dec. 19, from 2 to 3:30 pm and Sunday Dec. 20, from 2 to 3:30 pm. These free skates are limited to 200 skaters and skate rentals are not included. The Parksville Lions Club and Save on Foods Free Family Skate is Sunday, Dec. 20 from 12:15 to 1:45 pm, and skate admission and rentals are free. Please bring a hockey or bike helmet to wear on the ice.
Other upcoming holiday events include the Santa Swim at Ravensong Aquatic Centre on Wednesday, Dec. 23 from 2 to 4 pm. Santa has promised to bring candy canes and oranges too! Parents may drop off kids eight years old and up and take the afternoon to do some last minute holiday preparation. Children seven and under must be accompanied by an adult. Regular admission applies for children and youth, but parents may relax in the hot tub for only $2 when accompanied by a child.
