Garbage Pickup for Nanaimo every 2 weeks in 2010

Nanaimo goes green on garbage in 2010.  Did you know that the majority of your garbage comes from your kitchen?  In a one year pilot project people found that they reduced their garbage by 50% by having their kitchen waste set aside for composting.

Next year you can put out your kitchen waste in a green bin every week (provided by the City of Nanaimo)  and then your garbage every two weeks for curbside pickup.

What can you put in your new green kitchen compost bin? You can put in any household food scraps, meat, fish, soiled paper wraps.  So your regular garbage consists of only the dry stuff.
