Qualicum Beach: Urgent Public Appeal

Drinking water for Qualicum Beach could be at risk.

The town of Qualicum Beach gets its drinking water from wells  located in “DL 10″ which is located on the east side of Little Qualicum River.

Island Timberlands plans to clearcut the area unless the town of Qualicum Beach can pay them $185,000 by the fall of 2011.

The town of Qualicum Beach is launching a public appeal to raise $185,000:

Saving the trees on DL 10 would preserve the Riparian and Older Forest ecosystems west of the river and would be beneficial to our environment — trees are the lungs and heart of our community!
