The third annual Coaltown Festival will be held in Nanaimo at the Diana Krall plaza on August 29th. Commercial Street will also be blocked off between Bastion Street and Terminal Avenue, giving people the opportunity to appreciate our coal heritage with artisans, music and old mining displays and stories. Performers include Epic, the Glen Foster Group, Brian Hazelbower, Howie James, Alyse Paquette, Kurt Phillips, Bobbi Schram, Shauna Sedola, Trinitude, Jerry Paquette, Wind Weaver and Cal.
Admission to the festival is by donation. This is a fundraiser for victim services so all donations are welcome. At the Vancouver Island Conference Centre there will be a dance featuring R&B dance group Time Well Wasted and opening acts Island Hue and Gerry Barnum & Friends. Tickets to the dance are $25 and include appetizers, a silent auction and the chance to win prizes.
