Art Gallery in Maffeo Sutton Park

Experience an outdoor art gallery! Make plans to take a walk around the waterfront in Nanaimo and through Maffeo Sutton Park.

You will see the installation of nine temporary public art pieces.  Eight pieces will be located in the Maffeo Sutton Park Spirit Square and one piece will be located in McGregor Park (across from the Port Theatre). Several local artists have collaborated on the diverse art displays.  The art pieces will be officially on display from July 1st, 2010 through October 2010, then they will be auctioned off to the public by the Nanaimo Art Gallery.

Father’s Day Music Festival – June 21

Are you looking for a way to celebrate this Father’s Day?  You can head down to Maffeo Sutton Park, in Nanaimo on Sunday June 21, from 2pm to 6pm and enjoy some FREE entertainment!  There will be music from folk singer Valdy, Blue Grass Trio, Back 40 Boys, Voodoo Dave and Xigster the Trickster, plus face painting, hot dogs, and more surprises.   For more information call 250-716-1551.

Medieval Days – Performers Wanted

Are you a juggler, acrobat or musical performer? Do you enjoy the medieval era of knights, robin hood, princes etc…  Then you will be interested in signing up to entertain the crowds at this year’s  “Medieval Days” during the  Nananimo Dragon Boat Festival coming this July 10 to 12.

It is estimated that there will be 7,000 visitors a day in the area of Maffeo-Sutton Park during the Dragaon Boat Festival here in Nanaimo.  If you would like to sign up your entertainment act, contact Tony Manning at tonymanning@telus.net
