Giant Hogweed is an invasive plant which is characterized by the shape and size of its white flower blooms and by the many stiff white hairs on the 2-4 inch diameter red stems. Flowers appear in July and August and the blossom consists of numerous white flowers clustered in an umbrella-shaped head that can be more than 2 feet across. The sap contained in the hairs and in the stem is clear and watery and extremely dangerous causing serious burns.

Giant Hogweed is often found along roads, medians, railway lines and ravines, but can occur near residential properties as well. If you come across Giant Hogweed while outdoors make note of the location and notify authorities so that this plant can be eradicated.
