At the end of last Monday’s council meeting on October 15, 2012, a question was asked of Mayor and Council. What did they know of the agreement between the City of Nanaimo and the Port Authority of Nanaimo? Not one of them knew the answer.
Watch the Mayor’s reaction as Cathy Davis asks Council re 2004 Port Authority Agreement at Monday’s council meeting (wait for intro).
In the 2004 agreement it says that “the development activities of lessees and tenants on properties controlled by the Port Authority are subject to a Project Review Process…”
While the agreement doesn’t specifically mention Protection Island, it does state:
“The City and the Port Authority agree to work together…on the joint plans…[for] provision of access to the waterfront…”
